L5R: Traps
Based on the 4th edition rules
Pitfall
- Skill: Hunting (Traps)
- TN to Create: 15 for simple, 20 with stakes (minimum 1 hour)
- Materials: Stkaes, foliage, soft ground
- Rules: PER Roll to see the trap (TN is equal to the amount the creator exceeded the creation TN by). Deals 1k1 damage per 10', plus 3k3 for stakes. Dirty stakes may cause infection.
Pungi Sticks
- Skill: Hunting (Traps)
- TN to Create: 15 (minimum 15 minutes)
- Materials: Wood, soft or water-covered ground
- Rules: PER Roll to see trap (TN is equal to the amount the creator exceeded the creation TN by). Deals 2k1 damage, victim is Lame until these Wounds heal. Dirty sticks may cause infection.
Rope Catch
- Skill: Hunting (Traps)
- TN to Create: 20 (minimum 2 hours)
- Materials: Rope, counterweights, sturdy trees or suitable substitute
- Rules: PER Roll to see trap (TN is equal to the amount the creator exceeded the creation TN by). REF Roll (TN 30) to avoid being caught, likely held helpless; an extremely acrobatic victim may be able to reach up and cut themselves loose (GM's discretion). Falling when freed may cause damage, usually 1k1 or 2k2.
Tiger Trap
- Skill: Hunting (Traps)
- TN to Create: 25 (minimum 2 hours)
- Materials: Wood, rope
- Rules: PER Roll to see trap (usually TN 25). REF Roll (TN 30) to avoid being hit by spikes for 6k6 damage (heavy armor reduces to 4k4). Dirty spikes may cause infection.
